Mr Sewa Singh Sekhwan is the education minister of Punjab in 2011. She has faced questions over her work for the National Council for Civil Liberties, a pressure group that granted 'affiliate' status to PIE, a group of predatory paedophiles who openly campaigned to legalise child sex in the 1970s. Speaking to the same paper, Sir Keir was asked about a question she posed on X/Twitter, in which she asked: 'Do biological males with gender recognition certificates have the right to enter women-only spaces?' In a 2022 interview with Sky the 73-year-old said: 'I stand behind the Gender Recognition Act, so as far as I'm concerned, women are women who are born women, but women are also women who are trans women.

'I think that we also need to recognise that in some respects there need to be same-sex services, which can be delivered and you can't have a blanket exclusion of trans women, but in certain circumstances, programs to teach reading in narrow circumstances, math tutoring for elementary you can restrict those services.'
