Lamborghini, the Italian supercar maker is making its first step into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The new initiative - named the Space Key - is a work of art that was made by a collaboration with an unknown artist. The unique NFT is a physical object that links to exclusive digital artwork, accessible via a QR code on the back. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned off in the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made of carbon composite materials that Lamborghini, in the course of a research project in 2019 sent to the International Space Station. The carbon fiber was then created into a distinctive artwork after it returned to Earth. The physical component includes an NFT serial code that links to the digital artwork via QR code located on the back.

For those who do not know, NFTs are unique identifiers recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger. They are linked to a digital asset, such as a photo, video or music. This allows owners to ensure authenticity, scarcity, and trackability of their tokens on the internet.

Lamborghini takes this unique approach to art a step further by working with NFT PRO, white label NFT solution for businesses. In the coming weeks, Lamborghini will be sharing details about this exciting project, including the name of the unknown artist and a timetable for the auction.

The physical element of Space Key

After a series of social media posts teasing something space-themed, Italian supercar maker lamborghini smart key has entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFT) by launching an exclusive project dubbed Space Petron key to Lamborghini. The project was created in collaboration with an unidentified artist, the NFT is a collector's item that will be auctioned off in a few weeks time. The NFT is a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part of an ongoing research project. The carbon fiber was 3D printed to create the base of each Space Key, which is linked with an exclusive, purely digital design using the QR code printed on the back of the key. Only five Space Keys were produced.

NFTs are unique identifications that are recorded in distributed ledgers, like the Blockchain and connected to digital assets like pictures. It's a hot subject among those with more money than common sense. It was only an issue of time before automakers decided to take advantage of.

Space Key is made up of five units. It was made by using a carbon fiber composite, which was sent to the ISS back in the year 2019. Each NFT will come with a QR code which links it to an exclusive digital art work created by the same artist. More details will be shared in the coming days and weeks, including the name of the artist as well as the digital artwork, and how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.

The digital artwork

After months of posts on social media hints at it, luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. The project is dubbed the Space Key, it consists of five physical items that unlock an exclusive digital art work NFT by an unidentified artist. The 'collectors piece' was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to just five units. It is scheduled to be auctioned in the near future.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of carbon-fired composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research program. After returning to Earth it was stamped with the QR code which links it to the digital element of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that occurs only seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of the five images was taken by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner used a balloon equipped with a camera that captured each of the individual images, which were later merged into the final image. The result is a photograph that is out of this world. It captures both the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic picture of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned in the near future, however there is no specific date or place yet.

The auction

With the slogan 'to the moon', the prestigious automobile maker Lamborghini has entered the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFT) with a mesmerizing project that was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm). The Space Key is essentially an NFT that is made up of carbon fiber composite material that went to the International Space Station in 2019 for research purposes. The physical sample has been cut into five distinct objects that connect to exclusive and purely digital artworks by an unknown artist using the QR code that is on their backs.

The auctions, which will be held between February 1 through February 4, will last for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the same amount of time it took Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter lunar orbit. By signing up online, you will be able to bid on five NFTs. Each will be sold separately and the winner will receive an artwork digitally created by the renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five different times the Space Key passed during its journey through space.
